Description

Full of traditional architecture and a lot of character Arinsal is one of the most attractive villages in Andorra. It is part of the Vallnord ski resort which takes up much of the northern half of the small principality of Andorra.

Arinsal has a reputation for offering family friendly skiing because of its good natural ski terrain and excellent ski school. It offers great skiing and snowboarding for beginners as well as a good selection of runs for intermediates. Arinsal is a very friendly resort and attracts returning visitors year after year. It is famous for its affordable and often lively après-ski with more than two dozen bars to choose from.

There is a great variety of bars and pubs open from the early afternoon until late in Arinsal. The après scene suits lively groups who want to dance into the early hours as well as family friendly places for early evening entertainment. Great places to kick off the celebrations include Polar Bar which is located on the slopes next to the Gondola and has great views of ski area and Igloo- great for mulled wine, pizzas, soup and snacks, sitting at the highest point in resort overlooking the snow park. El Moli – great place to enjoy a spot of après straight from the slopes, located opposite gondola base station.

In the village, Bogart’s bar in the Hotel Princesa Parc has special nights such as Karaoke on Wednesdays and live music on Thursdays. Cisco’s is a Mexican cave bar and suitable and fun for the whole family and serves free nachos & ice cream for kids during après hours whilst playing chilled out music from funky DJs. There is also Sky sports and ESPN on the TV and Wifi available at the bar. El Cau is the place to go for dancing and loud music. There is a podium and a large dance floor and the bar has more of a nightclub feel, playing pop music and classic party tunes all night long. The party generally culminates at Surf which is an argentinian bar and restaurant that transforms into Arinsal’s only discotheque and plays house and latin music until 5am.


Eating out

There’s a great array of restaurants to choose from in the village catering for all tastes. There are Spanish and tapas bars such as the Sidreria Pub Herri as well as Tex Mex and British run restaurants.

The Bambu at Hotel Palarine sits just outside Arinsal in Erts is a friendly Chinese restaurant. This is a great option for families as if you book in advance you can be picked up from Arinsal and taken to the restaurant for no extra charge.

The Bull is situated in the centre of the village a friendly breakfast, tapas and drinks bar- great venue for refreshments at any time of day. There is a wide variety of snacks available all day and it makes a great spot for a lunch in the village.

If you’re looking for familiar dishes, Can Pere is an English run restaurant that offers a varied menu of British favourites using homemade and fresh ingredients sourced locally. The food here is also very reasonably priced with starters for 3€ and mains from 8.50€. There is also the pizzeria Deja Vu located in the Hotel Micolau that also does steak and duck dishes.



Activities

Off the slopes, there are loads of activities to do in resort in Arinsal and the village maintains a friendly and bustling atmosphere throughout the season. A great place to spend an evening is in the Bowling alley and bar at the Princesca Parc Hotel.

The Princesa Parc Wellness Centre has a range of spa facilities and body treatments, meaning you can totally rejuvenate before another day on the slopes.

Europe's largest thermal spa is in the capitol of Andorra in Andorra La Vella. It costs €2.75 each way for the bus from Arinsal and tickets can be purchased on the bus and the bus leaves from next to the Gondola base. The thermal spa hosts a great range of relaxation facilities including lagoons, jacuzzis, a steam room, saunas and an Icelandic bath. It is also worth taking a day trip into Andorra La Vella for its wealth of shopping and sightseeing.

There are a few shops in Arinsal that stock mountain gear as well as a few souvenirs at the supermarket. 2 main supermarkets in the village sell holiday essentials and a brilliant selection of food for pack lunches or self catered meals.
Sport wise, there is also an Olympic size swimming pool, squash courts, a gym, tobogganing, snowmobiling and paragliding.

Typical of Andorra, Arinsal is a very family friendly resort. The ski area really suits young children and beginners. Pal Ski school run the Baby Club and Snow Garden and both offer flexible hours, and can be matched up to ski and snowboard group lessons. The crèche offers childcare for 1-4 year olds in a bright and well-equipped playroom. Activities include snowman and igloo building, watching cartoons and playing indoor games.

As well as the excitement of learning to ski, there are plenty of activities available in Arinsal to keep your children entertained all week, including sledging, bowling, snowmobiling and swimming.

In the Ordino Sports leisure centre offers a range of indoor sporting activities such as tennis and squash and there is a large indoor pool as well as a children’s pool.
