Kirchberg lies in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps, just 6 km from the world famous town of Kitzbühel. Originally a mountain town Kirchberg is charming, attractive and much of its original character has been retained. Kirchberg is a delightful alternative to the renowned Kitzbuhel as accommodation is slightly better value overall and the resort still contains a vast selection of cosmopolitan restaurants mountain shops and après ski bars.
Although a slightly low resort the highest lift is 2000 metres, there is a half pipe and the ski area is well linked with Kitzbuhel so meeting friends up the mountain is easy to do and the brave can always tackle the infamous HahnenKamm
For such a small and quant little town Kirchberg really does have a lot to offer off the slopes. The most famous is the Londonder Pub which has been open for over 35 years from 3.30pm until 1am. They have live bands DJs; it is particularly popular with the Dutch http://www.londonpub.at/.
The Australian themed Boomerang is great for Euro beers, live music, free Wi-Fi and sport http://www.boomerang-cafe.at/history.html.
Up on the mountain a visit to Schneebar Oberkaser must not be missed. On your way down the Maiserlpiste stop off for one of the famous speciality drinks; it’s hard to miss as there will be a good crowd outside .
Kirchberg has a small yet diverse selection of restaurants, all of which get rave reviews. For a typically Austrian setting and large meals that don’t cost the earth the Kupferstub’n is great.
The family run restaurant is welcoming and very friendly .
For something a little more modern the Resengarten Restaurant is very good indeed thanks to one of the best chefs in Austria, Simon Taxachers. This contemporary style is mainly based on French cuisine serving mouth watering flavours all of which has been awarded a number of awards over the last few years .
In a ski resort there always has to be a good pizza place, in Kirchberg it’s the Pizzeria Epson Oeztoprak Bahr. They cater well for large groups who want something nice and quick and relativity cheap +43(0)5357 20049.
