Childcare facilities in Kitzbühel are limited compared to more family-oriented ski resorts such as Obergurgl. There are a few ski school-run kids clubs where parents can book the kids in for childcare or their first introduction to the snow — Element3, for example. Alternatively, the Kindergarten Marienheim is located near the tourist office and offers a good range of programmes.
Beginner
Kitzbuhel isn’t the most beginner friendly resort, however there are beginner friendly slopes located between the Hahnenkammbahn gondola and Streifalm chair; and there are also wide and open nursery slopes on the Kitzbuheler Horn.
Intermediate
Kitzbuhel is a great resort for intermediate skiers, in particular the runs in the Hahnenkamm and Pengelstein areas. There are some excellent blue runs from Pengelstein and Ehrenbach-hohe down into Kirchberg; and Kitzbuheler Horn also has some great intermediate runs.
Experts
Kitzbuhel is home to the famous Streif run. The run is closed to the public at the start of the season until after the race in mid-January. The first section of the run is so steep that World Cup racers accelerate to 60mph within a second or two.
Kitzbuhel isn’t renowned for its off-piste skiing however there are some good runs if you know where to find them. On the Kitzbuheler Horn there is usually good snow near the Eggl dragliff. You will also find some good off-piste above Pass Thurn. If you are planning on exploring off piste then it is recommended that you travel with a guide and have the necessary equipment.
