Description

Ladis is a typical Tirol mountain village surrounded by mountain scenery on a sun terrace above the Inn valley based in the Tyrolian Oberland. It is a cosy, old holiday village with under 1000 inhabitants, 100 km west from Innsbruck.

The town itself is a limited traffic zone with a pedestrian precinct and is a car-free zone at night.

The resort is linked to Serfaus and Fiss, allowing access to greater skiing than the resort offers itself.

The Ski Area

Linking up the ski areas in Serfaus and Fiss-Ladis led to the creation of one of the largest ski areas in the Eastern Alps where snow is guaranteed. There is an almost never-ending choice of runs and extremely comfortable gondolas and chairlifts. Connoisseurs, who are looking for that extra special quality, will feel particularly at home here where you will find 80km of excellently prepared pistes, quality restaurants and mountain in the ski area.

Apres

This small alternative resort to Fiss and Serfaus offers a great après ski scene. There are plenty of umbrella bars up on the mountain, in Fiss and Serfaus but in Ladis it’s all about the Weiberkessl. It has a rustic style with bands and DJs playing through the afternoon, a great bar.

The Geigaloch describes its après ski as “sinfully good après ski”. This is a traditional lodge style bar and restaurant with good music, great drinks and DJs from 2pm.

Eating out

There isn’t a huge choice in Ladis for eating out; the pizza’s at Pizzeria Reblaus are great and good value http://www.apartments-reblaus.at/de/pizzeria-restaurant/lokalitaet/lokalitaet-impressionen.html.

The food at the après ski bar Geigaloch is good and quick http://www.geigaloch.at/ne/home.htm.

Activities

Between the three villages of Ladis, Fiss and Serfaus there is huge amounts to do off the pistes as well as on. If you would prefer to just relax in one of the 19 ‘feel good stops’ on the slopes, these are small areas which are kitted out with hammocks and loungers so that you can soak up the sun and surrounding views..

The ice rink in Ladis is available for ice skating and curling, both very popular in Austria. Adults skates cost €3 with free rink and curling costs €3 per adult and €2 per child, opening times are from 6pm to 10pm.

Throughout the three resorts there are a total of 119km of cross country ski trails. A special pass will ensure inexpensive access to the runs and there is a “Nordic Point” with shower facilities and changing rooms at the Komperdell midway station.

In Fiss and Serfaus you can also take part in tobogganing, segway trekking, paragliding and funsport (with a mix of equipment to try including ski fox, snake glisse, snow shoes, snow scooters etc).

One of the highlights has to be the Skyswing in Fiss which seats 6 people in a row allowing weightlessness for a few seconds and 12 metres of free fall, this costs €6.50 for adult and €5 per child.

The Murmli Crèche takes children from 0-5 years where they can enjoy toys, sleeping area, climbing wall, hammocks and a weekly programme of dancing lessons, painting, clown theatre etc. The crèche costs €10.80 for an hour or €354 for a week from 8.30am to 4pm.

Children can try out a children’s motor sledging course from the age of 6, this is a fantastic way for them to do something a bit different. Prices start from €7 per motor sledge.
