Across the Alps, there’s a superb selection of top quality ski schools – with experienced instructors sharing tips on everything from basic parallel turning to mastering moguls, off-piste and more. Nervous learners and seasoned experts alike can book onto half- or full-day lessons and clinics, and make the very most of their time on the snow. Working across Val d’Isère, Tignes and Sainte Foy, Progression Ski and Snowboard School have been in the ski school business for a great many years – sharing their combined knowledge with skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

With the winter ski season in full flow, many of our customers are requesting details on the best ski schools to book with. With that in mind, we reached out to Ken and Mike at Progression with a series of questions, to gain a little insight into Progression Ski and Snowboard School’s products.

What made you choose the wonderful resorts you work out of?

I have a long-standing affiliation with Val d'Isère, as we used to come here as a children on our family holidays. My instructor was Eric Girault, who still owns Banana Bar in the resort. My first season was straight after school. Later I came back for "one more season", and have been here ever since. I’ve given up counting, but it is over twenty years now!

What draws your instructors to work for you?

We have a great team so many instructors come back year on year, and our products are designed to give the best possible results to the client. So within that environment, people see a chance to work with other good instructors in a strong teaching environment. We have a lot of applicants!

Expect top-flight tuition standards with Progression Ski & Snowboard School

What sets the Progression tuition apart from the rest?

The client experience starts in our office. Our admin staff know all our instructors very, very well and they give the best advice. As a school, we’re big enough to provide a wide range of products but small enough to guarantee quality.

We look to sell the best product and / or the best instructor for the client’s needs, levels and requirements. We don't push a private lesson if that isn't the best option, or push people towards groups just to fill a group.

We also provide our instructors with great equipment to help them deliver the best possible standards of tuition. Everything from the simple edgy-wedgy for our beginners, to free ABS Airbags and off-piste safety equipment for experts is provided.

What kind of group sizes do you operate at?

For any adult group lesson, we take a maximum of four bookings per level. For beginner kids we only take six, and skiing level kids groups we take eight.

How long are your lessons, typically?

Adult group lessons for beginners and low intermediates run three hours a day for five days. Our clinics for intermediate to expert adults run for three hours for three days. The kids’ lessons run for four hours per day for five days, although we often run them over the weekends as well. We also run full day kids’ lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Can you give any insight into how people decide which of your classes is right for them?

We try and work out client levels by finding out what colour of run that they are comfortable on. Getting down a black run doesn't mean you are a good skier, so what you ski comfortably gives us a better insight into people’s levels.

Generally we try and get as much information pre-arrival as possible. Details such as which ski resorts you’ve skied, your confidence level and your own motivations all make a difference. So the more we know, the better we can advise on the best product for any given individual or situation.

How do people book onto your courses?

The best way is to email enquiries@progressionski.com or visit our website to check out our products and send an enquiry form from there. You can also call 0033 62 19 39 38 0. The more information you give us the easier it is to offer you best advice.
