Canazei is the most famous village in the beautiful Val di Fassa valley. It offers some 50km of very quiet local slopes, and one can easily access the vast Sella Ronda ski circuit for further exploration – the entire Dolomites Superski area offers just over 1200km of terrain. Canazei is also home to the oldest ski school in Italy, the Marmolada ski school, and the excellent childcare facilities make the resort a great choice for families.
Holidaymakers interested in the Italian resort can fly into Treviso (155km away), Innsbruck (157km away) and Venice (170km away). Within the resort itself, a free bus service connects Canazei and Pozza with the main Belvedere gondola.
There are a number of excellent bars and cafes in Canazei, offering charming spots for a quiet glass of wine and a few more lively establishments for some après-ski fun.
After a big day on the slopes, it’s hard not to fall into Apres Ski Paradis. This lively bar, nestled on the main road into town from Col Rodello, is a strong town favourite.
Canazei is home to some excellent mountain restaurants, including great value options and delectable Michelin starred dining.
On the mountain, Baita Checco offers some of the best cooking in the valley – well worth a trip over to the Catinaccio ski area. Rifugio Salei, beneath the Col Rodello, is another wonderful option, as is Baita Cuz.

Canazei is famously home to the oldest ski school in Italy, the Marmolada ski school, who offer excellent instruction for kids as young as 3-years-old. Their facilities include a wonderful “Kinderland” nursery.
A number of hotels also have their own kindergarten and/or children’s club to give parents perfect peace of mind.
Intermediate skiers will find the most to love here, while beginners are also well catered for. Seasoned pros may want to consider a resort with more challenges, however there are some great off-piste opportunities in neighbouring Arabba and heliskiing is available for the seriously adventurous.
